Okay, I'm a musician. Make all the wisecracks you want, but I NEED music and entertainment around me at all times -otherwise I shrivel up and blow away. The current stock stereo is just inadequate for what I like so I'm upgrading the speakers anyway and I have a brand new Alpine CD deck that I took out of my Porsche. But I don't know if this type of swap is a good idea in these cars.

Has anyone done this and how difficult is it? What I am thinking about doing is installing the CD deck (I don't care much for changers) plus a flip-up DVD screen in place of the current stock radio. Now, I know the SID is what displays the radio information and I'm really not that interested in the mileage information that it also gives me. I AM, however, concerned about losing the warning codes that are displayed there if I remove that display.

So...has anyone done this? And, if so, what are your experiences???
