You can NOT use regular non-reinforced rubber hose safely, because there are pressure spikes even in the return lines when the wheel is turned against the stop and released.
The hoses under the ps reservoir have a sharp bend, which puts strain on the hose clamps, see pic below. Small leaks there are to be expected and not a big deal (until you start tightening them and snap the plastic end off at the reservoir).
Other "hoses" are actually a combination pipe and hose with a crimp joint in the middle which leak on some cars. One of the ps lines with a metal pipe is actually a cooling line and runs in front of the radiator, can't see how to replace that w/o removing the bumper, and maybe a few other things. That has to remain a steel pipe.
Stop leak can cause premature failure at the pump or steering rack seals if the fluid gets thick in the cold, so that is only an answer if you are at the end of life for the car, or want to dump your problems (and the vehicle) on some other poor unsuspecting owner. I don't know about Auto-Rx, some people swear by that stuff, I have no experience with it.
Racing grade power steering hoses are rated at over 2000 psi and only a few dollars per foot, but I don't know how to match the ends to the fuel pump and other fittings yet. Look for Earl's power steering hose online.
