Further reason for suspecting Hall Sensor Posted by iveand [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Hall Effect Sensor - Resistance Readings Needed, iveand ![]() |
The below link is an old BB post relating that hall sensors can be suceptible to temp swings. The post states:
"One thing to consider is that sometimes hall effect position sensors can go intermittent with temperature fluctuations. With 6 years Mercedes Benz service under my belt I've seen it more than a few times"
As an interesting note: If I DISCONNECT my hall sensor now while the car is running, there is no degredation or change in idling. The slight flutter in idle has always existed, and is not worsened by not having the hall sensor plugged in! Seems like it is not doing much for me right now. Could this exacerbate starting problems when cold? I am guessing the injectors are going off of the crank sensor, then. In fact, pulling the crank sensor results in the car not firing at all. So, what does the hall (cam) sensor do for me, then?
Trying to sort this out...
