So am I incorrect in my assumption that the Saab SS exhaust is 2.5 inches. Is it actually 3 inches then? If it is indeed 2.5 inches... is there a 3 inch SS exhaust available? It seem to me when all of the DP's are 3 inches and then it transistions to a 2.5 after the cat this would be a restriction on the exhaust flow.
When I do this I don't want to alter the look of the car too much... just want performance out of it but don't want a crazy loud blurting rattling me in the seat. I like the idea of 3" b/c the extra .5" multiplied by the number of feet back equals a lot more room to displace the exhaust from the engine (less back pressure).

So I will need to get a flex pipe then to match the same area as the enhuast... is this the transition after the cat?

Just so I am clear there are basically 4 parts:
1. the DP from the engine to the Cat
2. The Cat (OEM vs. sport vs. Racing)
3. The Flex Pipe
4. behind the flex pipe to the back muffler and out the end of the car.

I know that there is a mid muffler in there somewhere and some people have removed this and some haven't. I am not sure if the Saab SS exhaust has this as part of the package or what.
