Take out the 13mm bolt first (don't drop the spring or the plunger if it comes out too). That relieves the spring pressure otherwise the ratcheting mechanism will be fully extended when you get the tensioner out. I don't buy the 13mm spec anymore. I believe many/most of them start around this value when new. I look at how many clicks are left unused on the ratchet, easily seen by pushing the spring and plunger back in. I've replaced a lot of chains and guides that yielded only one tooth or so different in the resulting extension. These were in cases where minimal wear was evident on the sprockets so they weren't replaced. On occasion, a big change is seen; the one that stands out in my memory was an SPG that the tensioner was already fully extended and very noisy. New chains and guides left this one with 6 clicks extended without replacing any sprockets.
