Clutch pedal travel, clutch pedal switch/cruise control Posted by Peter [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() |
My clutch pedal no longer returns close enough to its rest position to operate the clutch pedal switch.
Diagnosed with the help of the cruise control self-diagnostic, confirmed by pushing switch manually. Removed switch, tested ok, switch action is good. Easy fix for now by taping a washer to the switch contact plate on the pedal, so cruise now working again.
I do not see any place to adjust the pedal rest position to be closer to the switch. Nothing obvious in the Haynes manual, either.
Can this can be fixed just with a new pedal return spring, or is this part of the whole clutch cable mess?
I know the spring and a couple other parts should be replaced at the same time as the cable, but I am wondering if this means I should move the clutch cable up on my priority list?
