Ok. So today I am troubleshooting a squeak on the steering wheel, I dismantled the driver side facade, remove the stuff down there, and proceed to grease the rubbery joint to the steering column. In order to spread the grease evenly, I turn the wheel side to side. The car is jacked so the wheels are not touching the ground, and of course the engine is off.
That is when everything went wrong.
I went to look in the engine compartment and I must have sprays about 0.5Ls of power steering fluid all over the place!! I placed dry and clean paper towel all over the engine and located the leak at the power steering reservoir. Somehow, the stop to stop turning of the steering wheel pressurizes the system and PS fluid shoots out of the PS reservoir with pretty good force!!
A fellow Saaber astutely suggested that I check for clogged lines, perhaps near the PS pump. I want to get your comments, since it seems you have done quite a bit of research in this one.
BTW, from the looks of it, the PS reservoir is leaking from the middle joint (the reservoir seems to be 2 halves glued together).
Thanks in advice for you comments.
