I actually did this because my pulleys blew up one night in 14 degree weather. Not sure it was exactly 5 miles, but I was so "tripped out" by wanting to not get stuck in the cold, I....uh....didn't "think" about overheating.....I ran on Impulse engines for a few good blocks.
By the time I had Scotty turn back on the lights and intrumentation panel, the temp guage was just getting into its highest position. We immediately went to red Alert and shut down engines with enough momentum to coast into a parking lot.
As far as I could tell there was no damage...but I wouldn't do it again.
