Yes it is a steep price and it might even be more.
At that mileage I would suggest to replace all 5 engine shaft seals behind timing belt (if not done before) and also the coolant thermostat since it easier to get to it while the belt and sprockets are off.
This is one of the most difficult jobs to sell to a customer because if he calls around to other shops that don't know the whole deal he might get a quote of only a couple of hundreds of dollars to replace the timing belt.
The timing belt itself is REALLY STRONG and will last for a long time (most likely 100K miles) but the tensioner pulley and two idler pulleys barely makes it 60K miles.
So just the timing belt and tensioner kit reach a price around $600.00 to 800.00 depending on the shop labor, and then you might need the 5 seals for another $100 and then the coolant thermostat for another $150.00 and then maybe the serpentine belt and idler pulleys for another $150.00 and then maybe a new water pump for another $100.00 and maybe the plastic timing cover needs to be replaced for about $100.00.
As I said it's really difficult to price out a timing belt job.
But if you do all of the above listed things the timing belt is good to go for another 60K miles and you need to spread the cost if it out over those 60K miles (roughly 20 cent per mile).
If any of the different parts fail and make the timing belt skip timing the car will be reduced to junk value.
