If they want to drop the oil pan, I would want to know why. For example, to clean the oil pickup screen, clean the oil pan, just take a look... or what?
They should be able to tell you what a service will cost if you need it, ahead of time, also.
I had oil pressure, compression, leak-down tests and a couple other small things done last week. Including taking the time to let me poke around the engine and take pics, four hours of bay time. Not cheap, but I got better and more information from an independent shop than from the dealer.
My oil pressure reading was 50 psi at 2000 rpm, measured at the banjo bolt on the oil line to the turbo, not at the sensor.
Dealer service departments have to sell parts at high markups to make money. If they don't they will not be around for long. Sad, but no way around it.
