Fellow Saabers,
I am removing my 5 speed tranny to replace the crankshaft seal on my 94 SET.
It's got 230,000 miles and a bad 3rd gear synchro and bad seals.
Is rebuilding the tranny a DIY project (buy the shop manual from eEuroparts)?, are there any special tools you MUST have? (I have access to a hydraulic press).
Also, there is a Saab update kit for the 9-3 5440516 for $250 that has all the parts I'd need. Can this be used on my tranny?
Lastly, how can it tell the fluids apart?, was it synthetic or regular oil?
I am thinking about going to saab synthetic.
Thanks,
Moises
