I was looking at the compression ratios and displacements. Calculated the volume of the combustion chamber at TDC. This is not the same for the 2.3NA and 2.0 turbo engines. The pistons are different for these applications, even though the cylinder bore is the same. So there must be about a 12.7CC* difference in the pistons contribution to the combustion camber volume, where the combustion chamber volume includes the volume of the head above the gasket, the volume of the gasket thickness, plus any volume below the top of the cylinder block plane and above the piston.
Cross mixing pistons would create CRs of 8.8* and 11*. (As the camshafts also vary, there could be issues with valve to piston clearance with those combinations. There is a lot of stuff not published such as valve lift etc.)
* published stock CR's are probably rounded off, so this figure might be off. I could not find CR specs in WIS or Haynes. Assuming that these are 10.5 and 9.3
