He wisely pointed to me, that the clutch line used only the first few mls of brake fluid in the reservoir. It never occurred to me to check this in detail in the first place :) I assumed it drained from the bottom of the reservoir just like the brakes. With that knowledge at hand, and seeing how the car was in a constant state to "engaged" I went back to bleed the slave cylinder. This time, using the Motiv Power Bleeder at a steady 15 PSI AND (this is important) bleeding the line SUPER slowly, I was allowed to get the air out of the line. This gave the slave the much needed pressure to release the clutch plate from the flywheel and it was all downhill from there! I am so happy!! :)
