Greetings,
long time listener, first time caller. Saab 900 SET (67K) the problem is the check engine light comes on indicating the fuel is burning too rich. The gas mileage plummets. It runs rough, especially when idling. The light might turn off for a while but eventually comes back and the problem gets worse. Resetting the computer only works for a while. The DI cassette has been changed 3 times. The MAP sensor was checked but not changed. The O2 sensor has been changed (2x on the front and don't know about the back as it is tough to get to w/out dropping the Cat. Conv). The COMPUTER has been replaced. The CAM has been adjusted. It does run better but you can still smell gas, the light is back on and the gas mileage is still very low. I also replaced the fuel filter which worked for almost 2 weeks (Yeah!). The most resent codes from Autozone are:
0171 Fuel Air Metering
1416 (2x) Auxiliary Emissions
Both possibly due to bad cat. converter which I suspect
0171 Misfire (non specific)
300 Multiple Misfire
And just for giggles lets through in that the gas gauge just stopped working. It would only go about 1/2 way up with a full tank. Now (after about 2 tanks) it stays on E with the little illuminated pump on the dash just to taunt me next to his jerk brother check engine. I suspect the sender unit is bad (not something I am anxious to work on myself). Or the Fuel Pump. So any thoughts good, bad, or otherwise?
thanks
