I have new oil control and all rings on the piston will be new. Cylinder's honed etc. I saw on Car-part.com a NC salvage yard had a 1999 9-3 engine turbo 2.0 for $1500 with 61K. I might should have went this route. When you revved up my engine and let go you could hear a backlash sound that sounded like the balance shaft spinning within the chain. We don't have the side cover off yet but I will try to post some pictures if I can find a place to host them. I am replacing the following.
Timing chain, all gears, guides and tensioner
Balance chain, all gears, idlers, guides and tensioner
Oil pump gear set
releif piston.
Head gasket set, Head vatted, valves ground and valve hights set by pro saab machine shop new valve seals.
new piston rings and rod bearings.
new head bolts.
I think that is enough I hope.
I live the tell of how bad the "free" service was by Saab on the 1998 models every 10k. I have changed every 2500-3000 since owning it for 3 years.
Total bill to be determined. Parts bill to date is $968.00
