If you really want a hatch, especially with 4 doors, they you might want to go with the current 9-3SE. Word is that the new 9-3 may start out as only a sedan and rag-top, but if there is a hatch, rumor has it that it will only be in the 2 door model...and that might not be available until some time after the new 9-3 sedans come out.
As for resale, the new 9-3 will hurt resale values of the "old" 9-3, but that only really matters if you want to resell in the next several years. If you plan to keep your car for a good long time, then it all evens out.
My previous car before my 2000 9-3 was 1989 Acura Integra 2-door with hatch. 1989 was the last year before the Integra body style changed to the wrap-around headlights (from the pop-up headlights), so that hurt the resale value of my Integra, in theory, but since I kept the car for 11 years it was a moot point.
The point being, if the current 9-3 meets your needs, you plan to keep it for a long time, and the dealer is offering a good incentive deal, why not take it? But the same answer is not right for everyone.
