The Michelins weren't that old. The Michelins have a steel reinforced sidewall, hence the stiffness. They were like that from day one.
I didn't buy the convertible for handling. I bought it for the sunroof. As much as i like my 9.3, it just doesn't handle with the poise and balance of my other SAAB, a 9000. Let's face it, the 9.3 has no top and it flexes.
Hopefully the Kumho tires will give more than 25K miles. I also hope they won't pick up nails, screws, and bolts as much. Two of the Michelins had multiple patches. While treadlife is not my top priority, it is important. Don't get me wrong, the Michelins were great tires. But they are more than my current lifestyle requires. Matter of fact, I will probably go for Bilsteins once the tax bill is paid.
