The manufacturer's recommendation for the HOT/SE engine is minimum 90-92 AON. You can run 87 in it but the performance will be severely degraded. I have not tried this myself but have known several people who have and the results were not good. The worst part being, it takes the Trionic system a couple of tanks to readjust back to full performance once you dig that hole.
I lease my cars and even so, I still spring for the Super 93 or Ultra 94 (depending on whether or not it is Mobil or Sunoco). My thought being that if you have the money to pay for such an awesome car, you should be able to fill it with premium fuel to get the performance you originally went for. If the thought of an extra $3 or $4 per tank is gut wrenching, can I suggest a sensible Sentra? I hear they run well on 87. :-) Just my $.02.
