I've had my Yokohama AVS Sport 225/45-17 tires on since late March and I've had absolutely NO negative experiences whatsoever. Acceleration is better. Braking is better. Cornering is better. Road noise is less. Wet traction is better. Dry traction is MUCH better. Sidewall is slightly taller for better wheel protection. Wider width also help protect wheels from curbs.
Do they rub? ABSOLUTELY NOT!! And I can make that statement after daily commuting, autocrossing, and even a day at a road racing track.
The only negative could be that the wider tire width makes the torque/camber steer a bit more noticeable.
