I would do it myself if I could. I live in the city (DC) where I really don't have a place to do the work. Also, I've never put on pads before.
Yes, 20,500 miles doesn't seem like a lot. When I was in yesterday for the 20K service (and to replace a bad left front wheel bearing), they said I should replace the front pads soon (i.e. within 200 miles). They said I had about 2mm left.
My car is an automatic, and I do a lot of city driving.
