The dash speakers are easy to get to. Just gently pry up the plastic grill by sticking a small flat blade screw driver in the little notch at the side of the grill. The dash speakers can then be removed by removing the two screws. The windshield gets in the way for the Torx screw driver that comes with your Saab, so I bouth a small Torx bit for a powered screw driver, put it in a socket from my socket set and used that as a short screw driver. It did not take much with just my hand to loosen the screws.
Do NOT try and pry off the speaker grills on the doors. They are built in to the door panel and cannot be removed. You will need to remove the whole door panel. (See instructions on how to do this in Richard Bevan's NG900/9-3 Audio Guide in the FAQ section of Saabnet.) Once you get the door panel off, the door is covered by a thin foam insulation layer that acts as a moisture barrier. If you do not already have door speakers (as in the base 9-3), you will see a perforated circle that you have to punch out of the foam to get to the speaker opening and the speaker wire. You will also have to use a sharp knife to cut out a cardboard circle behind the speaker grill in the door panel you just removed.
In both cases (dash and door), the speaker wires have a modular connector on them designed to plug into a matching connector on the Saab speakers. You can either clip off this connector and solder new spade connectors to the wires to hook up to your new speakers or you can get a Metroworks Dashworks speaker harness connector for Chrysler cars that can be easily modified to bridge the Saab connector to the spade lugs on the new speakers. Search back in this board for previous disussions about the speaker harness from Circuit City. (I'm sure you can get this harness other places, but when it was discussed here before, several of us got these at Circuit City.)
Good luck!
