This is my 11th car and certainly the best in the bad weather. Note that you really have to have the right tires. I've always put snow tires on my cars and still notice an improvement in the Saab over the others.
No, there is no real "one thing" that makes it better. There are just lots of nice little touches that we take for granted after owning one for some time. It's just a great all around cold weather car. I'm in NH and frequent the White Mountains and am always surprised by how little snow, ice, and cold affect the ride experience.
There is a complete lack of things that annoy you when driving in the snow and cold where there was always SOMEthing with the other cars I have owned.
I can't think of any details as to why it's better, but if you owned one, you'd notice (or not notice) them. "Intangibles" is a good way to describe the little things that make it better in the bad weather. Lots of the tangible little things, heated mirros, etc are present in most cars these days which is why I'm not listing them. It's how you implement them that makes the difference.
I'd love to have an older 900 or NG900 as a "winter car". Instead, I drive mine all year.
