I don't believe that the other responders answered your question.
Lead will certainly hose a catalyst. They honeycombed surfaces inside a cat become coated with the lead deposits and stop removing unburned HFC's and Nitrogen Dioxide from the exhaust gas.
HOWEVER, I have never heard of a situation where the catalyst becomes 'plugged up' with lead. What lead will do, however, is completely coat the platinum/palladium surfaces inside your catalyst and prevent the exhaust gas from reacting with the catalytic elements.
Something doesn't add up. Lets say that your Euro gas station was mixing lead gas 50/50 with unleaded. Also, lets say that your friend burned two full tanks of this mess. He has basically burned one complete tank of gas that has a farily small amount of lead in it. There isn't enough lead in 16 gallons of leaded fuel to stop up a catalyst. Ruin it...Definitely! but not enough to stop it up.
Incidently, I got curious and looked around on the web. Tetraethyl lead is the actual name and it was added as a way of artificially raising octane levels without spending the money to refine the gasoline to a higher level. It seems that the EU banned Leaded Gasoline in 2000. I'd be calling the authorities if I was the Saab owner and my catalyst was ruined by lead.
