Given that you have mostly ice / pavement, rather then snow, I would tend to lean towards the new "ice tires" rather then a traditional snow tire. I use Michelin Arctic Alpins and I recommend them, they are an ice tire that ride like an all season tire, so are the blizzaks, at least for the firat season, as well as few other new designs out there. It was recommended to me by the people at Nokian that if I was to use one fo the "ice tires" that I go with the 195/60R15 rather than the narrower 185/65R15, they say the narrower tire is really more of a benefit for traditonal snow tires and not the ice tires.
