Saab puts "high performance" tires on the 9-3 SE, which I frankly think is overkill. Instead, go with a set of Grand Touring Tires. We have Bridgestone Turanza Revo H's, 205/55/16's, and the difference was night and day. I felt like I was driving a new car. Handles bumps much better (read -- absorbs bumps better), the car is quieter, and is significantly less harsh.
The Revo's are H-speed rated. Some on this board have said that they don't like the idea of going down from a V-rated tired to an H-rated tire. If that is the case, another good choice is the Michelin MXV4 Energy Plus, which come in 205/55/16's in a V-rated tire.
Grand touring tires are meant to combine performance and luxury, whereas high performance tires are not as concerned about luxury, only performance.
