The 15k 'maintenance' is only an oil change. It's their standard $43 or whatever for some partially synthetic oil. I think they gave me $29 coupon price because they said they were coming to pick me up at the office (no loaner available, no shock there) and didn't show up for an hour and a half (I am just a couple blocks from the dealer).

You know, this thread isn't about wether or not 10K oil changes are appropriate, and I won't even add my opinion on it. It's about Saab entrusting their dealer to come up with maintenance schedules independent of the dealer recommendations and Saab even considering standing behind them on a warranty issue because of it.

Look, I buy the car, I read the manual, I talk to the engineer. 10K is the word. My dealer sends me a non-guaranteed delivery piece of snail mail (to my old mailing address, thank god it was forwarded) that essentially puts me in a violation if I don't receive, read, and act. Maybe this isn't Saab's actual position, but the rep on the phone at Saab USA was god awful stupid enough to actually tell me it was without question.

Stupid crap happens at dealerships but with a company like Saab who has a significantly lower number of customers in their purchasing pool, HQ should NOT allow messages like this to go out.
