I posted a couple of days ago since I'm car shopping for a used "Fun Factor" car. I started out concentrating on a used BMW 6cyl, and was considering the 4cyl - BUT saw some ads for Turbo 93 for about the same money.

Anyhow I drove a 1999 9-3 with a little over 50,000 miles, 5 spd of course. Frankly I was a little disappointed, please comment on the following:

1) My biggest grip is that I really noticed it was a front driver, the steering was heavy and it seems I turned the wheel, waited, and then the car went around the corner.

2) On the straitaway it went like a rocket, but wandered. I spun the right front wheel accelrating out of a turn - not a real confidence building for "spirited" driving.

3) I found the drivetrain noisy, like a grinding kind of noise on low speed turns, and in general just louder than you would think of a 99 model year car.

Now I actually drove my front driver to test the car, and though its a mini-van I actually felt nicer driving it (of course the 93 would leave it in the dust - but I was easily hitting apexes on every turn home). I also had a Renault 2.2Liter for about 100,000 miles years ago, it is a front driver and the famous soft French suspension - but that car was a lot of fun.

Heres what I need advice on, Could I just be testing a LEMON - or a car with a bad CV joint or something? I'm open to testing a different 93 or 900T - but was hoping to hear:

a) Sound like the car you drove had something wrong, my doesn't do what you said.

b) There all like that, maybe a SAAB isn't for you.

c) There like that, for a tight enthusist drive you need to do an upgrade (rear bar, spring, or shocks or something else).

Thanks, the car just seems like such a good deal roomwise and powerwise.

Ray
