I have an '01 9-3 SE that came with 16" Pirelli P6000s.
I live in upstate NY and was concerned about how they were going to be in the snow... and even contemplated shelling out $1000+- for the SAAB wheel/snow tire package.
When we received our first snowfall (8" or so) this past winter I was pleasantly surprised to see how well they did. Coupled with ABS and traction control I had no issues getting around at all. The car handled beautifully and is by the far the best car I've driven in the snow.
Last week we had some ice/freezing rain and I felt that it handled just as well. Didn't even think twice about getting to/from work.
I think whoever has issues with this car - or tires - for that matter just doesn't understand how to drive in bad weather. As far as I'm (and I'm sure others) concerned this car was born in bred in the snowy depths of Sweden.
