The insurance company of the driver who scraped the bumper of my parked 9-3 has already paid up (in 5 days time, no less...as insurance claims go, pretty painless). They paid based on the assumption that the front "bumper skin" will have to be replaced. They will give a "limited lifetime warranty" on the work if I have it done at one of several body shops they endorse. My local Saab dealer, however, recommends another body shop.

I plan to get estimates on the work from all of these shops. Are there any specific questions I should ask to help select the best one? How hard is it to replace the bumper skin? Do I need a shop with experience working on Saabs? Would it end up being cheaper if I ordered the bumper skin myself from one of the Saabnet sponsors who give a discount on parts or do the body shops get the same kind of discount ordering from Saab? Do the bumper skins come pre-painted or not? If they do, is this a DIY job?

I already have the check and it is completely up to me as to where I get this fixed. (I could even just pocket the money, but while the bumper is not bent, it is pretty scratched up and I will probably go ahead and get it fixed.)
