I have a 2001 9-3 SE Conv. and after 15,000 miles of VERY hard driving, the shifter works just like it day the day I brought the baby to her new home. I find the shifter to be good, although not spectacular. However I enjoy the flexibility of the clutch. When I test drove the 3 Series before getting the Saab, I didn't like the tightness, in fact I stalled a couple times! The best shifter out there has to be that of the Honda S2000. My friend has it, what a beautiful shift. Short throw, and very precise. However the Saab isn't too far behind.
Cheers
Jose
