1999 Viggen Questions

I have the opportunity to pick up a 99 viggen with 26K miles on it. The car looks to be in good physical condition except for a passenger side door ding that he says he's fixing next week.
Shifting, it felt like the clutch was very stiff, and 2nd and 4th gears were kind of hard to get into. Is that normal for this car?
He says he has all maintenance records, and has had all the required scheduled maintenance performed. However, when asked about specifics regarding his car he seemed pretty clueless. Is the Viggen a car that can stand up to a clueless owner, as long as they've done all scheduled maintenance? Or does it really have to be babied? I would have expected someone who owned a car this rare to pay more attention to it... but it seems like he treated it like a toyota.
Based on this, would it be recommended to pass on this opportunity? Or should I bite the bullet and just dive in. Of course, I would be taking it to my independent saab tech for inspection before making the final purchase decision. He is asking $25K for the car, would this be a fair price? Based on what I've read other people are paying, I'm inclined to say that $20-22 is more along the lines of what the car is worth.
Anything in particular I should look out for on this car? I've heard of bad wheel bearings, entire transmissions failing, heater control knobs, ECU recalls... is there anything else I should check to make sure has been taken care of? Or is this a question best answered by supplying a VIN to a dealer?
TIA,
Hien
