an actual working model, perhaps five at the most. For the most part, it has not yet been fleet tested, nor is there an accurate picture of what a high mileage Variable Compression engine will behave like (maintenance wise). The idea is huge, but why release it before it's ready?
Saab has always been in the fore-front of automotive technology. The only problem being, our past has shown that we tend to release a concept before it is made 100% reliable, afterwards another manufacturer uses their own updated version of our idea, and receives the credit for it, while we get pushed aside as being unreliable. Does this sound familiar? I believe that Saab is not going to let that happen again. I'm not saying that it isn't close to release, but I guarantee that you wont see it in MY'03.
Cheers,
Brian.
