When it finally warms up in Cleveland and some goofy parts come in from Sweden, I'll be doing coolant flushes and brake fluid on my 1990 900SPG and my 1994 900 Turbo Convertible. Granted, I'll do this myself, and it will take me all day as it's my first time and I have other work to do on 'em. But let's break it down.

I'll be using Mercedes-Benz Coolant - enough for 2 cars is ~ $45
3 Gal Distilled Water: $5
2 Thermostats: $50?
Brake Fluid: $10?

That's for 2 cars, parts/fluids total just over $100. The old saabs can't use anything more expensive that what they use in the 9-3, as I'm using top notch parts/fluids. I'm not including tools I've bought, as the dealer doesn't charge you for buying tools...

So let's say $60 for parts/fluids for 1 car.
Add 2 hours labor at $60 each.
That totals $180 for the flushes. Maybe add a few bucks for environmental or disposal fees and call it $200 even.

How can a dealer charge 6-700 bucks?

I may try and get a service manual if I buy my car at the end of the lease. The amount they get for a 30k service vs. what they actually do is amazing. It's an oil change with some other changes and $500 worth of "inpsections". If the inspection finds you're out of alignment, that's extra to adjust.
