I just had mine go through the 30K yesterday. Mine was covered as part of the purchase (2001 model viggen). Here is what they do that is worth something.

Replace spark plugs
Replace fuel Filter
Replace enginer drive belt and check tensioner
Replace engine aire cleaner element
Rotate Tires
Replace cabin air filter
Change oil and filter
Check front wheel alignment (additional charge if anything needs to be done)

Here is what they do that is all filler for which you get charged.
Check exterior lights
check headlight/fog light aim
lube door hinges, etc.
check spare tire pressure
check batter charge
top off washer system
check fuel system for leaks
inspect evaporative control system
check crankcase ventilation and vacuum lines
check gearbox oil
check steering fluid
check engine cooling system hoses and cap.
check brake fluid
check wiper blades
inspect brake hoses and olines
inspect exhaust system
check ball joint clearance, outer and inner steering joints
inspect shock absorbers and bushings for tightness and condition
inspect inner and outer drive shaft joint boots
check tire pressure and depth
inspect pads (some value)
check parking brake function (if you use it you'd know, if you don't who cares)
check SRS warning lamp
check safety belst for operation
reser time for service indicator
road test.

If you have a good shop, it is great to have things looked over since you are nearing warranty end, somewhat nearing warranty end. But most of this service is for looking. I think this needs to be done to maintain warranty, but when I got out of warranty on my old saabs, I pushed this and did this on my own time schedule.
