The residual you quoted corresponds to a $32,765 MSRP right? That's actually a pretty low residual, market wise. What's in the $1,800 ish in drive offs? Should be 1st, license, security deposit and acquisition fee. Is any of that a cap reduction? You didn't mention your local sales tax rate. What's the cap cost? How much discount after you allow for the factory money? Sale lease "$299" has factory money AND a healthy discount. Grinding and whining, actually there are a lot of tactful, polite ways to do this too, may only get you $10 a month less and/or little less drive off, so it's not a bad deal.

Any interest in a 9-5 without the premium package for $30-40 more? That's $3,535 more car for only $1,100-1,500 more in payments.

RE: Lease vs. "0%" vs. cash-alternate financing. Of the three choices the lease is a low rate and a lot of dealer cash. The 0% is zilch dealer cash. And cash or alternative (your own C.U. for example) financing is only somewhat more cash, but not enough to offset the low rate of the lease. So the way Saab chooses to give you the best deal on the money is the lease, if leasing is for you. In my opinion the lease is about $1,500 ahead of the cash/alternate financing, which is about $1,300 ahead of the 0%, in terms of defered payment total. Even if you plan on keeping the car longer than the lease, the lease makes it very cheap for the first 36 months. A lease won't work for you if you're going to drive the car way too many miles. Other than that, and the fact that Saab chooses to give you a better overall deal on the lease, leasing and financing cost about the same for the same period of time.
