I posted a similar question on this board a while back. I was considering purchasing a used 1999 9-3 (with about 45k miles). Well, after test driving the used car, I decided to lease a 2002 9-3 SE with the premium package. The 1999 car that I drove didn't seem all that nice, in fact, it seemed like it had been driven kind of hard. The 2002 9-3, on the other hand, is a totally nice brand new car. With the lease, you get a brand new car with the 205 hp engine, and the warranty covers everything (including scheduled maintenance). Obviously, the downside is that you won't own anything in three years. However, as fast as Saabs depreciate, you can buy the car at the end of the lease and end up getting a pretty good deal (or lease another one).
