Logic isn't

Comparing the sales for a new car with a car over a decade in production in it's last year and concluding that there will be a DRAMATIC increase SIMPLY because of the body configuration doesn't necessarily follow. In addition, in anticipation of the model switch production and models were limited in the final year.
I don't deny that a conventional sedan opens up a new and arguably larger market for sales (although based on SAAB history that isn't necessarily completely clear), however, in a fair head-to-head sales situation I think a stylish, versatile large hatchback can sustain it's self in the SAAB fold. All we ask is for choice.
Not that it is a fair comparison either (times and markets change), but I will point out, SAAB sales still haven't returned to mid 1980 levels when sales where driven primary by sales of SAAB hatchbacks. It is more complicated than a simple hatch vs. sedan thing.
