What Part of Audi's Heritage did VW Kill?

I don't see the relevance to the Audi/VW comment. VW has not forced Audi to change anything about it's heritage/legacy. All Audi models today look as if they were developed by Audi Designers and Audi Engineers! If anything VW/Audi have the formula down to a science, share necessary technology and development products for multiple brands with quality and individuality as priority. The A4 doesn't look like a Jetta does it?
I've said it before, my intial reation is that the new 9-3 looks like another GM product, I will hold my final judgement until I have seen and driven one to compare it to previous 9-3/900 models. It looks like a nice car, not a Saab though.
**Also, remember how GM said Saturn was NEVER going to be a common platform GM car?? Saturns now share platforms with Buicks and Pontiac, etc!!! Same plant different cars.
Do you really think Saab would not have survived as a company had it not been for GM?
