Can you afford to self insure? Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: EXTENDED WARRANTEE, zpc, Sun, 12 May 2002 13:23:08 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
If a new tranny or engine won't wreck your household budget then perhaps you can afford to go without. If you do get an extended warranty try to get a "GMPP" General Motors Protection Plan Major Guard. I've seen alot of warranties in my time. Many are brokered with official looking contracts that in reality are dealer backed, that is the dealar owns the warranty company. This kind doesn't pay claims all that well. GMPP in my direct experience pays well. They are much less likely to have tbe fine print and loopholes that plague the fly by night warranty companies. Major Guard is the GMPP that is "bumper to bumper". There is a short list of exclusions, wear items and such and everything else is covered. Parts, labor, seals, gaskets, substitute transportation even things that just wear out. Many of the off brand warranties have great big long lists of things that are covered, 12 component or whatever, but somehow what breaks is never on the list or is caused by a lack of fluids or some other cause that qualifies as an exclusion, beware.
