Backpacking isn't homeless.

Backpacking isn't homeless. Sleeping in a cardboard box on a college campus for 1 night isn't homeless. I once had a woman stay with me for a week who was mentally ill and wondering the country. She refused my offers for food and for a week foraged the woods near my shack(I used to live a long way back in the woods) I thought she had done well until I realised she had eaten all of my cat food.
I guess my point is that even if we walk away from all our posessions and live on the street we will always have someone to go to if it gets hard or if we decide to bail out, somewhere to take a shower or get a hot meal. We will never understand what it is to be homeless.
When you add mental illness to the picture maybe he simply believes that Saabs are the antichrist incarnate.
