Need advice - struts

bought used '99 9-3 from dealer, 53K miles, certified. I noticed a very loud "crunching" noise from the front of the car when test driving it. We noted it, dealer diagnosed as bad right front strut and bearing plate. These items are being replaced as part of the purchase deal. My question, will a brand new right front strut and a left strut with 53K miles present any problems? Dealer svc. dept says no. Midas says yes, replace both. Conflicting opinions, both with motives behind their opinions. The car seems to float compared to my 9-5, this could be attributed to the tires on the car (new, but really cheap Daytons), or just the fact that the 9-3 is different from the 9-5? Any experiences with suspension, and recommendations on the front strut? If I still hear the "crunching" noise after the strut replacement I'm gonna b!tch and demand the left be replaced also. My fear is that struts aren't part of certified warranty and I'll have to shell out some $$ if they don't replace the left as part of the deal, and $$ is very very tight right now for us. Thanks in advance (TIA)
