Today, within 3 minutes, my Saab proved how well built it is and may have saved my life. First, I am proceeding at the 45 mph speed limit in the left hand lane. There is a car about 3 lengths in front of me also going the speed limit in the right hand lane. We are about to pass the exit of a Kmart parking lot. No sooner than the lead car passes this exit that a car decides to cut across and attempt to make a left hand turn. I had almost no time to react. I realized that there was no way to stop in time. My only chance to avid gettimg broadsided was to floor it and to take evasive action. Fortunately, there was no center divider at this point nor was there any on coming traffic. I avoided the accident by the smallest of margin. To add insult to injury, the culprit was a classic 5 door 900. If not for the torque and hp of the Viggen, I don't think I would've escaped.

Less than 3 minutes later, I was stopped at a light when the driver next to me in a turning lane ask if he could cut in front of me. I was still shaken up from my near miss, however my manners hadn't abandoned me. I agreed to his request. Proving that no good deed goes unpunished, as soon as the light changed the idiot in the convertible Mustang behind me floored it. Within an instant, he slammed on his brakes and slammed into me. Amazingly, there was no damage to either car. I have hit and been hit far less harder than this. Only once before have I driven away without a scratch on my car. That was with my 960 Volvo. I have to believe that the quality of the car played a large part in preventing any damage.

For all you non Saab owners who visit this BB, this is why so many of us buy Saabs. Style, performance, practicality and SAFETY.
