a true one. If you look at the cost of mounting and dismounting snows and normal tires, you will recoup the dollars for a dedicated set of snows on steel rims in a few years. Of course you extend the time available on your summer high performance tires this way as well. See the Tire Rack, where you have already been, for package deals on snows already mounted on steel wheels, balanced and filled to correct air pressure, delivered to your door. Your 16" alloys will avoid the corrosion of salt immersion during the winter, and your car's safety, handling and roadholding will be maximized in both environments.
Second, I can't see that I would be real anxious to have two different kinds of high performance tires on a car at the same time for summer use either. Different manufactures, carcasses, tread patterns, compounds, adhesions characteristics, turn in differences, yada yada. That cannot help keep the car balanced one would think.
