I have been posting off and on since I bought my Saab a few weeks ago. I LOVE the car, but will admit, I ignored negative feedback I read about the '99. The Saab seems to be a car you either love or hate. At this point, I still love my car, but I did decide to have a mechanic check it out (make sure I didn't get a lemon). Overall, he said the car is in great condition (whew!), but he heped me compile a list of things to take to the dealer:

- sidewall of right-rear tire was damaged (mechanic said this was very dangerous and needed to be fixed immediately)
- A/C doesn't get cold (get cool, but not cold)
- plastic panel under the front of the car was ripped and cracked (mechanic said it needed to be repaired b/c this panel helps control airflow into the engine)
- driver's side window - unusually loud creaking when you first roll window up
- Missing lever on driver's side back seat (the knob that folds the seats down)
- Intermittent cabin noise -- from reading today's posts, I'm sure this is the result of the seat cover rubbing.

I'll admit these are things I could have noticed the day I was buying the car (oops), but I was blinded by it's shiny newness!! Luckily these things are minor (ok, except the tire) and are all under warranty. Just wanted to share...maybe this will help those out there looking to buy a used Saab.

By the way, I found the mechanic on TSN and he's GREAT (thank you!). He spent an hour going over the car with me -- inside and out; we even went for a test drive. (By the way, he said my gear shift is normal...referring to an old post of mine.)

I'm picking up my car from the dealer today. Been driving a Saturn loaner car in the meantime...um yeah, I still love my Saab. :)
