Black plastic is going to turn grey and yucky whether or not you apply dressing, Armorall or any other kind, or not. I'm not sure where the rumor came from that says that if you dress your tires and plastic they'll eventually look worse, but I don't find it to be true. If you only washed, waxed and dressed your car once it's eventually going to look oxidized. One treatment doesn't last forever. And you'll probably notice it more if you've only done it once, but not doing it at all is not an improvement.
There are lots of products to choose from other than the old stand by, Armorall, for tires as well as all the black plastic found on today's Saabs. I'm sure many of them tout their superiority and claim they don't leave a residue like you know who. But not using a dressing of some kind, is not preferrable.
