You have a gorgeous car. You should have some room to negotiate your your lease pay-off. I had the same decision on my '99 and decided to buy the car. I added a sport exhaust with a K@N filter (definate performance gain, really transforms the automatic) added the 2000+ SE ground effects and bought some reconditioned viking wheels to go along with Goodyear HP's 205-55-16's. The car gets tons of looks and is still a blast to drive. And like your, it's very reliable.
I had one annoying rattle in my hatch and discovered you can screw out the little black knobs that sit on either side of the top of your hatch and fit into the black groves on the back of the car. One rotation each completely solved the problem.
The new 9-3 looks like a 325 to me. Probably will be a great car but I think I'll wait at least a year or two until the initial Gremlins are worked out of it.
