Well, I came out this morning and the tire that had seemed OK yesterday was now flat. A visual inspection of the rim edge showed one slight bend, so I first thought maybe the tire had lost its seal along the edge of the rim. I put some air back in the tire and drove it the couple of miles over to the place I got the Bridgestones two months ago and had them check it out.
Turns out there was a small "pin hole" in the sidewall that was the source of the slow leak. I had the tire replaced, the wheel balanced, and the front alignment checked. The service manager said that although there was the slight dent in the outer edge of the rim that the new tire made a good seal. I asked about the effect of the dent in the rim edge on how the tire would perform and tire wear and he said that it was slight enough that he did not think it would have any impact on the tire wear. (These are the OEM 15" ten-spoke rims for the base 9-3.)
So, was his advice OK on the rim, or should I get a second opinion?
Mark
