The factory stopped fitting these part way through 1999 production. You can't tell if it is fitted without doing the work. There should be instructions on ERP's web site. One might be able to tell if one is there by tapping on the lower hard pipe and listening for the effect of the silencer that is jambed into the pipe at the end far from the turbo.
I acts as a muffler for the turbo compressor discharge silencer. It is also a major restriction which reduces power and increased boost lag.
If you after the silencer, expect to find it oil soaked, that it normal. There is always some oil leakage at a turbo, and the blow by gases to through the turbo then you are heavy on the throttle.
I suggest that you do other things other than get the loudest BOV that you can find. However, many of these will require that you cut an adapter into the aluminum hard pipe and weld it it. There are others, such as the TurboXS Type S, that will come with a 25mm hose adpater, if you ask for it. Then you can mount it where the BPV is with a screwdriver.
On the NG900 BB, search for deans<underscore>list.
