I concur with Bob - go with the 15" wheels and separate steel rims.
Our winter potholes in Toronto become more spectacular every year and replacing one alloy rim is almost the cost of your snows and rims for all four wheels.
The Dunlop Winter Sport was not available when I bought my Artic Alpins so I can't comment on Tireracks website advice. However the Blizzaks seem to win the "acceleration" and "cones knocked down" ratings in the Ice Rink tests every year.
IMHO - it's driving on ice when one really needs traction - particularly when braking and cornering.
When I purchased I spoke directly with "Tirerack" and the very knowledgable salesman gave me a different recommendation than their website suggested.
For wheel covers I bought some cheapies from Canadian Tire for $40.00 CAD. Believe it or not - they don't look that bad!
Good luck with your decision.
Cheers - Stu.
