Couple of points on the SAAB make it hard to test, the whole shift lock in reverse scenario in particular.
If I key on to ignition without starting when the condition is present, I cannot move the shifter. Moving the clutch pedal repeatedly with the motor off makes no change upon start. Starting the car multiple times also does not change results. Truly seems dependent on on engagement of clutch/motion.
Unfortunately my garage is not readily usable for the car (full of tools (remodeling) and bicycles) so I don't currently have the means to leave in neutral, chock & lock for a "stress free" type of test on the tranny/clutch.
I think I noted before, since I feel the car move back onto the gears at night when I leave the brake off to test we can pretty much assert that the brakes don't seize (car would roll freely if clutch in/out of gear) short of contracting at night with temperature variance?!?!?. Likewise, if I engage the handbrake the car doesn't move back onto the gears which makes me think that seizing the tranny isn't a major player here either.
GAH! Frustrating. The dealer has it, trying to reproduce over night again. They are ready to try to fight for free repairs w/SAAB but it is just so damn hard to predict and getting any clues without reproducing (claimed in the past of course) is not feasible due to cost and time for them...
